About us

The best gear is the gear you stop thinking about.

Past The Ridge is a US overland outfitter. We sell camping and adventure gear. The starting point is what mounts to a vehicle: roof top tents, truck bed tents and SUV tents. Around that we carry the rest of what a trip out needs.

We put the right gear on the right vehicle. For anything that mounts we check make, model, year, roof type and bed length.

We are building this to still be here in ten years.

Our main buyer

Our main buyer goes looking for adventure in his vehicle, usually a Tacoma, a 4Runner, an F-150 or a Wrangler. He is after the freedom and the independence it gives him.

He has been out there enough times to know what is at stake with gear he does not trust.

We sell to people who get there another way too. On foot, by bike, by motorcycle. They have a place here.

How we work

A new sales channel, with no added complexity for your brand.

We run the store, the advertising and the support. When a sale is confirmed we pay for the order upfront. You ship direct from your warehouse.

We bring our own demand

Paid search and paid social from day one, aimed at people still comparing options. We do not bid on your brand name.

We stay long enough to prove it

SEO and content take about a year. We fund paid traffic through that year.

Channel control

  • No Amazon, eBay or Walmart. In writing, in the dealer agreement.
  • Your MAP, signed and enforced.
  • United States only. No export, no third-party resale.
  • EIN, W-9 and resale certificate ready on request.
Launch · months 1–6
Paid media 70% SEO & content 20% Email & CRM 10%
Month 12+
Paid media 45% SEO & content 35% Email & CRM 20%

We start heavy on paid because it works from week one. SEO and content take share as they start producing. Total spend does not go down.

Operations

  • Paid in full before anything ships.
  • We file the freight claim with the carrier.
  • Fit checked before the sale, which cuts wrong-fit returns.

About the founder

Past The Ridge is run by Nacho González. I climb and I do alpine routes, and I travel by 4x4. I have been using this kind of gear for years.

The rest of my working life has been digital marketing. Sixteen years of it. Google Ads, Meta Ads, SEO and conversion. That is what I run this store on.
